High School Girls Program
Hour 1 – Situational Awareness and Knowledge Domain
The first hour of this program involves the student learning about potentially dangerous situations and ways to avoid them. Students are taught about the four threat zones, confident demeanor, ways in which victims are chosen, the use of body language, use of intuition and predatory/prey behavior. Students will also be provided with common scenarios that they may face in real life such as elevators, public transportation, dating, stalking/being followed, distraction techniques and many more. The student will also be introduced to the importance of having a survival mindset.
Hour 2 – Basic Defensive Tactics
Under stress the ability to use fine or coordinated motor skills, and cognitive functioning is greatly decreased. Students will be taught how to utilize their natural reflex response and gross motor movements to defend themselves in a danger situation. Students are also taught how to respond in the most effective and efficient manner using eye jabs, chin jabs, palm strikes, elbows, knees and basic kicks. The student will have the opportunity to practice these techniques which will include learning the attacker’s most vulnerable targets.
Hour 3 – Basic Holds
The student will learn how to escape the most common grabs, holds and chokes used by attackers. Additionally the student will learn how to defend against a forward and rear bear hug where they could be picked up and moved against their will. Students will be able to practice these defensive tactics against single and multiple attackers.
Hour 4 – Ground Survival
This is NOT a course in Brazilian Ju Jitsu or wrestling, sport and traditional martial arts training does not translate into the real, street involved situations. The student is taught what to do if they are knocked to the ground and how to get off the ground safely; the goal is to get off the ground in 5 seconds. The student will learn how to fall properly, protecting their head as they fall, how to defend against potential sexual assaults, multiple attackers, being choked on the ground, and defending from the ground when the attacker is standing up. On the street there is no ref and no tapping out.
Hour 5 – Simulated Attacks
The last hour of the program gives the participants an opportunity to bring their training together and apply what they have learned in a reality based scenario. Scenario training provides the student with a high stress environment which simulates real world settings. Scenario training helps solidify the student’s training and create a mental blueprint of what to do in real life situations such as a sexual assault, peer violence, or attempted abduction. Students will experience the physiological effects of adrenaline and other ways the body and mind respond under stress.
